Does Globe Really Value Your Loyalty?

I have been a Globe Handyphone Subscriber for almost 6 years now. In fact, I got my 70th billing statement this month. I love Globe’s services. Apart from some bumps along the way, I am still very satisfied with their service.  That is probably why we also switched to a Globe Landline and Broadband at home. Anyway, we all know that Globe offers Loyalty Rewards everytime you renew your contract with them every 2 years. For the last two renewals, I availed of the bill rebates package. Bill rebate is when they offer to slash a certain amount on your monthly bill for the next 24 months instead of giving you a new handset. For example, instead of Globe giving you a new Nokia C3 to renew your contract and lock you in for another 2 years, they will offer you P400 bill rebate for the next 24 months. So if you are in their plan P999, you only need to pay P599 a month but still enjoying your plan’s full features and benefits.

Globe Bill

I was very happy and satisfied with Globe’s Loyalty Plans, until recently.

Buffet Breakfast at the Marina Bay Sands (Part 3)

I’m back for Part 3 of my Marina Bay Sands Review Series. If you missed part 1 and 2, you may read them HERE and HERE.

Marina Bay Sands Breakfast

A rainy Morning at Singapore… After our pleasant sleep at the Atrium Room, It’s time for breakfast!

Marina Bay Sands Breakfast

Like I mentioned on my previous post, breakfast is not included in the room reservation. So If you want to try their breakfast buffet, you need to go to Rise Restaurant at the lobby of Tower 1. The buffet price is $38++ SGD per person. To be honest, the price was surprisingly reasonable. Converted to peso it will only cost you around Php 1,600, which is the typical buffet price here in Manila.

I am not sure if you can reserve a table for the buffet. Judging from the long line of people waiting to be seated, I don’t think you can (I did not really tried calling for a reservation). I think they are on a first come first serve basis.

Marina Bay Sands Breakfast

Marina Bay Sands Breakfast

As expected the buffet was big. Mostly international dishes but there are also a lot of local and regional dishes being served. Salads, Breads, Sausages, Bacon, Omelets,Fruits, Jams, And A whole lot more! Name it, they have it!

Wing Hub at Metrowalk

Just a quick post in between my Marina Bay Sands Review Series..

We were in Metrowalk Ortigas last night and we were looking for a place to eat. There were the bars, there was Starbucks, but this brightly-lit establishment caught our attention – Wing Hub. Like I said the place looks new, brightly lit, and clean. There were bouquets on the entrance… Hmm this place must be new. We walked in, asked a waiter, and true enough it was only their second day.

Wing Hub01

The place was nice and clean. The highlight of the design was the big plane hanging on the ceiling.

Wing Hub02

Wing Hub03

Wing Hub04

There was not much in the menu. Just the Wings and a few other dishes like spaghetti and fish and chips. Time to eat!

Wing Hub07

We ordered Wings (of course) - 3 out of the 8 available flavors. Garlic Parmesan, Taiwanese, and of course Buffalo Wings. We also ordered rice and spaghetti on the side..

Wing Hub06

First was the Garlic Parmesan P195 (3pcs) + additional 10 pesos for this flavor.

Before anything, they have 2 kinds of dip, garlic mayo and bleu cheese. The dip does not come free with the wings. You have to pay P65 for it. I am not sure about the other wing shops but this is the first time that I experienced this.

Anyway, moving on to the wings, the garlic parmesan was pretty good. It was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The wings were not that big though not that small either. Just the right size.. But it will surely look small if compared to Don Henrico’s Famous Buffalo Wings. Moving back, once you bite into it, you can really taste the parmesan and garlic, but together with the breading, it becomes a bit salty. Maybe a little rice will help..

Wing Hub09

Next was the Taiwanese Flavor P195 (3pcs)

Sweet, Nutty, Gingery – it tastes just like advertised. This flavor is something new. I love it.

Wing Hub10

Now, We saved the best for last, the classic Buffalo Wings P195 (3pcs)

Honestly, we were a bit disappointed with the Buffalo Wings. We were expecting this to be the best among the 3 but we were wrong. I don’t know, it did not taste like the buffalo wings that we were expecting. I think this was a recipe different from the classic? I am not sure… It was spicy, sweet, a bit sour, but not tangy. Don’t get me wrong, the flavor is OK its just that, for us, we did not experience classic the Buffalo Wing Taste that we used to love.

Among the Three, I enjoyed the Taiwanese Flavor.

Wing Hub08

The spaghetti was ok. It was meaty but not that flavorful. The serving was good enough to share between 2 people if you will still eat wings. The price? In their menu, there is no separate entry for the spaghetti. You may order Spaghetti with Chicken Tenders for P225. Last night, they ran out of chicken tenders and the waiter informed and asked us if it was ok. We said ok, just give us the spaghetti, we have the wings anyway. When we got the bill, the price of the spaghetti was still P225. So we asked if why were we charged for the whole amount when in fact there was no chicken tenders. Don’t you have a separate price for the spaghetti? So the waiter asked someone (I’m not sure if it was his manager) then he returned to us and said “sir less 25 pesos daw po pag walang chicken tenders”. With a smile, jokingly but half-meant with a hint of sarcasm that was involuntary I said, “ahh ok 25 lang? so 200 yung spaghetti na yun? pero sige ok na yun”. So the waiter, who apparently was able notice, went back to revise the bill and talked to his manager again. When we the bill arrived, they slashed 10% off on the total bill instead of the P25 that he mentioned earlier. I felt guilty, but nevertheless we paid for the discounted amount. Since they were new, maybe they really don’t have a separate price for the spaghetti yet. My Apologies.

If you are in Ortigas and want to try Wing Hub, they are located in Metrowalk.

Here is Wing Hub’s Menu:

Wing Hub Menu

Bottomline, you cannot go wrong with wings. You just have to find the right flavor for your taste :)

Rooms at MBS: My Marina Bay Sands Experience (Part 2)

Picking up from where we left off…

The VIP Lounge was in tower 1.. Our room is in Tower 3.. Time to walk…

Marina Bay Sands

above: These are some giant lamps in from of a Chinese Restaurant along Tower 2.

Marina Bay Sands

During our stay at The Marina Bay Sands we stayed at their Atrium Deluxe Room at the 21st Floor Tower 3. The Atrium Room is basically their standard room. To be honest, apart from some upgrades, it was... a fairly standard room. It looks and feels similar to other hotels out there. This only shows that you really have to get out of your room to fully experience what Marina Bay Sands has to offer!

My Marina Bay Sands Experience (Part 1)

This WAS Singapore.

Merlion

Now, THIS is Singapore!

Night view from the Merlion

I went to the Lion City few weeks back and I was amazed on how a lot has changed since I’ve been there last 2007. Not that I’m complaining, but before you only have Sentosa, Merlion, Orchard Road, Night Safari, Bird Park, and Esplanade. But now, in just 4 years, they already have The Singapore Flyer, the F1 Stadium, the Circle Line (MRT), Youth Olympic Park, Resorts World Casino Integrated Resort (They call their Hotels+Casinos Integrated Resorts), Hard Rock Hotel, Universal Studios, Helix Bridge, Changi Terminal 3, and of Course, the structure that underscores Singapore’s Commitment to Development and Highlights itself to the world – The Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort!

I was fortunate enough to have an opportunity to stay at this Magnificent Hotel during our stay in Singapore. Also, to make my stay more enjoyable, I was given a tour of the entire facility by the Marketing and Media Relations of the Hotel. It was so cool!

I know a lot of you are curious about this Hotel so, I will be sharing to you my experience in this Modern Architectural Marvel (from a Filipino Point of View).

Oh, before I proceed, I would just to clear the air; I was not paid to do this nor was I treated for a free accommodation (How I Wish!). We paid for all our expenses... :)

Moving On… Let us start with the basics.
