Miramar Hotel Manila 01

They call it “New” but in reality it is really, really old. There are a lot of old hotels in Manila - which is really historical and charming – But being an old hotel does not mean that it has to be outdated as well. Miramar Hotel has its nice Artsy-Artsy old charm to it but they should have at least updated the facilities.

Let’s define OLD shall we! According to its website:

“Built in the 1930's in the Art Deco style and sensitively refurbished in 2009, the 5-storey Miramar stands out as an architectural gem, one of very few buildings linking bustling Manila to a graceful and elegant era.”

F Restaurant at F1 Hotel BGC 11

From one of the newest Hotel in the Bonifacio Global City area – Best Western F1 Premier. Comes the newest player in the Hotel Buffet Scene in the Metro. F Restaurant is very lovely. Although not that spacious, it has elegant interiors and a great panoramic view of the neighboring buildings. If there is one issue that I encountered that day was during noontime and early afternoon, it gets a bit hot inside the restaurant since there is an Sun Roof, lots of windows and the air conditioner cannot keep up with the heat.

Like most hotels, the buffet was on the small side but still complete and delicious. From Soups to Appetizers to Salads, Main Courses, Carvings and of Course Desserts. Free flowing coffee and hot tea were also included in the buffet. The best part is, for only Php1,188 net, you can enjoy a lavish lunch or Dinner buffet inside the upscale district of Bonifacio Global City.

A lounge access at the Airport is a huge perk for travellers. For one, you don’t have to pay for expensive airport food. BUT Don’t expect super delicious food though. The food was ok, acceptable but it was not that good. Second, you have a safe place to leave your stuff. Third, you get to be productive while waiting for your flight.

To be honest, Miascor lounge is a bit outdated. It looks, feels, and smells old, probably as old as NAIA 1? I hope they upgrade their facilities soon or better yet, open a new one in NAIA 3 since to date, there is no Lounge in NAIA 3. Centennial Terminal (NAIA 2) has Mabuhay Lounge – which I will review later – so a lounge in NAIA 3 is in order.

For those who are curious on what’s happening inside this lounge.. well, there you go!

The bottomline for me – It is Convenient, Clean, and Free! Who am I to complain right? :p

Tune Hotels, a Malaysian Budget Hotel is invading the Philippines! If you remember my recent post about GO! Hotels, Tune Hotel’s business model is very similar to what Go! hotels has to offer. There are some difference in the service but the concept is the same. Now, they are aggressively opening several hotels in the country to cater to budget conscious tourists. Travellers who just wants to pay for the stuff that they actually use!

Tune Hotels Manila: How to Book a Room Online!

Before I show you the rooms I’d like to give you a quick guide on how to book a room online.

Like most hotels, booking a room for Tune Hotels is Done Online. Actually, They discourage (or do not accept) over the counter bookings. All bookings must be done online. And just like any other hotels, it is very straight forward apart from some unique questions that you only encounter in booking budget hotel. Read more to see what I am talking about.

Step 1 – Go to http://www.tunehotels.com/ and choose your hotel and dates on the left side portion.

Tune Booking Step 1[3]

Step 2 – Select Your Room type (Technically there is only one room type, you only get to choose the bed set-up. The choices are Double, Twin, or Single*). Like booking an airline ticket, the prices displayed are just the Base prices taxes and other stuff excluded.

*available in some countries

Tune Booking Step 2[2]

Step 3 – Choose the number of Occupants (max of 2 pax)

Tune Booking Step 3[2]

Step 4 – This is the fun part! Options and Choices! You only pay for what you actually need or use! Go ahead, be creative! :) Everything is metered, including the Air conditioner!

Tune Booking Step 4[2]

Step 5 – You get the Total Price! Super Cheap!!

Tune Booking Step 5[2]

Step 6 – Payment. They accept Credit Cards and Surprisingly – PAYPAL! Which is very safe and preferred by notorious online shoppers!

Tune Booking Step 6[2]

Step 7 – Fill out the Guest Details, Conform to the Terms and Conditions, then Complete the Booking.

Tune Booking Step 7

Step 8 – Your Payment will be processed.

Tune Booking Step 8[2]

Step 9 – Booking Complete, Print Stuff, Check Email

Tune Booking Step 9

Step 10 – Manage your booking online (as needed).

Tune Booking Step 10[2]

When I was booking this room, I also checked Go! Hotels to see the price difference on the same date. Note that go hotels still offers un-metered air-conditioning. :)

Tune Hotel’s Price (12H Aircon) P1,143.24
Go Hotels’ Price (Unli Aircon) P1,778.56

That is approximately 56% price difference or P633.32! (Of course you have to factor in your location). But still, comparing their regular rates still shows a big difference in the price.

Tune Hotel Vs Go Hotel Rates

The same process also applies for Go Hotels booking, its just that, they wont ask how may hours of Air-conditioning you’ll need! :) If the trend is going in this direction, don’t be surprised if the next time you book a hotel room, they will ask how many liters of water you will need to flush, shower, and brush your teeth! Hahahahaha! :p

My next post will be the Room(s). Stay Tuned!

Is Your School Bag Ready?

Hawk Bags Concept Store
Ground Floor, Market Market, BGC Taguig.
Tel: 02.362 2080 | 02.361 1820
Mail: info@hawkbags.com

School will start again soon! The big question is, are you ready? Especially your school bag.

Choosing a bag – especially a school bag - is a bit of a challenge. The kids wants a trendy and stylish bag but the parents want a quality, durable, and most of the time a reasonably priced bag. Well, good thing Hawk Bag is here to the rescue!

Hawk Bags 03

(above: Hawk Bags Concept Store in Market-Market)

Most of us are familiar with Hawk bags. We grew up having hawk bags as our school bags and lunch boxes. Remember these?! The Famous Trolley Bag (Which Doubles as a Chair) and the Oval-Shaped Lunch Box!

Hawk Bags 24

We know how durable and resilient they are! I mean, way back then (err… not really that far away) we used to carry all of our Books and Notebooks to school everyday. Our Hawk Bags were so durable it lasted the entire school year – and in most cases, longer than that. Even before the Imported bags became popular to the Philippines, our favorite, proudly pinoy brand of Bag is HAWK.

End of Nostalgia -
